The defendants in the lawsuit are Google LLC, RTVI Production LLC (the legal entity of the RTVI TV channel) and businessman Sergei Polonsky. An interview in the case is scheduled for April 10, no other details were given.

A representative of Deripaska told RBC that the lawsuit is connected with “false and offensive statements” by Polonsky against the businessman. “Lawyers are asking to recover financial compensation from Polonsky, and all they want from RTVI and Google is to delete the video. As far as I can see, RTVI has already removed this interview,” he said.

Last December, RTVI published on YouTube (owned by Google) an interview with Polonsky in which the latter criticized Deripaska. It is currently unavailable.

RBC sent a request to Sergei Polonsky, RTVI and Google.

Due to the statute of limitations on his case, he was released in the courtroom. The businessman also intended to participate in the 2018 presidential elections, but the CEC refused to register him.

Last year, Deripaska filed a defamation lawsuit with the same court against businessman Oleg Tinkov and the Meta company (recognized as extremist and banned in Russia). The case was linked to Tinkov’s post on Meta-owned Instagram. As his lawyer Andrey Melnikov explained, “Tinkov wrote that Oleg Vladimirovich is a very bad person, he stole the Russian economy.” Deripaska demanded to remove the post, as well as to pay compensation for moral and reputational damage in the amount of 2 billion rubles. The court, as an interim measure, froze the amount of 50 million rubles on Tinkov’s accounts. (Deripaska demanded to freeze 2 billion rubles). The founder of Tinkoff Bank filed an appeal with the Krasnodar Regional Court, but in January of this year the court denied him. On March 2, the case was returned to the lower court.

In March, Deripaska filed a lawsuit with the Moscow Arbitration Court for the protection of honor and dignity against the head of the investigation department of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK, recognized in Russia as a foreign agent, as well as an extremist organization and banned) Maria Pevchikh. The hearing on the case is scheduled for June 1, Deripaska did not state material requirements. The representative of the businessman clarified that the filing of an application with the court was due to the publication of participation in the loans-for-shares auctions and the requirement to refute it.
